Your credit report data and score are so important in today’s society. Most people know if you try to buy a house or car, you will have your credit checked and it will have a bearing on how much you pay or if you can make the purchase on credit. Some things people don’t realize:
If you attempt to get a loan on a car and you have a 619 score, you will pay more than $8,000 more than someone with a 621 score for the SAME car! Based off the interest rate charged and the higher required down payment, that’s $8,000+ for a TWO POINT difference. Does the car dealer or banker say, “Let’s see if we can raise your score 2 points to save you more money.” NO, they just want the sale. The same is true of your mortgage only multiply the costs by 10!
Try to obtain a new job today. Not only are employers checking criminal backgrounds, they are checking personal credit. The thought process is that if someone has bad credit they aren’t reliable, trustworthy, disciplined, honest…

Did you know that if you apply for auto or homeowners insurance most insurance companies pull your credit prior to approving you and quoting you out for your policy. I don’t know about you, but it doesn’t seem like someone’s credit history should have any bearing on whether they will wreck their car or burn down their house (or be victim of a tornado!)

Did you know if you open a business and want to take credit cards from your customers, you have to have clean credit so YOU can accept money from OTHER people?! This is called a merchant account and you need to have clean credit even though they are not granting you any credit.

Most landlords do a credit check before they will rent you a place to live. Not only can you not buy a house with credit problems, but you can’t even rent someplace. If the landlord does rent to you, it will usually be with a higher deposit and a higher rent payment. |
